It is our great honor to introduce to you an all-new base malt from Rahr Malting Company — Rahr To Thee! Pils™.
Born from a close collaboration with some of the brightest minds in brewing, Rahr To Thee is produced in Alix, Alberta, using Canadian grown barley. It is malted to a Kolbach Index of 37.0 – 44.0 for easy lautering in any regimen, and it is appropriate wherever a pilsner malt with low color and low modification is desired.
To Thee’s profile delivers hints of grain, dough, golden bread, and sweet cereal alongside a slight nuttiness, making it an ideal base malt for classic continental lagers, craft lagers — lagers of all types, truly.
New for 2025, Rahr to Thee! Pils joins our lineup of Four Core Malts for Every Brewer. We’ve updated the three base malts below with new names and branding, but rest assured, inside the bag is the same Malt of Reputation you know and respect. That’s right; the spec is not changing. We’re merely redecorating.

Made from a blend of premium barley varieties grown in the US and Canada, it is celebrated for its mild sweetness, moderate protein, and good extract yield. Clean, neutral, and pale gold in color, it provides an ideal foundation for showing off aromatic hops, specialty malts, expressive yeast strains, and other flavorings.
The Brewer’s Standard Pale Ale™
The rest pale in comparison. Made from a blend of North American grown 2-row barleys, The Brewer’s Standard Pale Ale™ plays a vital role in countless Bitters, Browns, Milds, and Porters, as well as IPAs of all stripes. Deeper in color and flavor than our 2-Row and Pilsner malts, The Brewer’s Standard Pale Ale™ is packed with pleasant malt flavor and high extract yield. Its strong malt character is ideal for use in American, English, and Continental-style Ales.
Rahr North Star Pils™
A base malt to set your compass by! Produced in Shakopee, Minnesota, Rahr North Star Pils™ is crafted to meet the requirements of brewers looking for a domestic pilsner malt with low color and low modification. Suitable for any beer style, particularly craft brewed versions of classic lager styles, North Star Pils™ brings overtones of honey and sweet bread with supporting flavor and aroma notes of hay and nutty character.
