Each year when June comes around with a smattering of rainbows from numerous companies and corporations, it’s easy to forget the basic heart of what Pride is – a celebration of love and a reminder of the basic rights hard-won by the LGBTQ+ community. Today we’re talking Deb Loch of Urban Growler Brewing Co, and Jessica & Erika Jones of Giant Jones Brewing, two LGBTQ+ breweries where Pride isn’t a once-a-year party, but an everyday celebration. 

RahrBSG is lending our support to the Black Is Beautiful Collaboration Beer Initiative. We are offering free Cascade hops (per the recipe) to breweries to be used for their Black Is Beautiful collaboration beers. While the hops are free of charge, breweries are only responsible to cover the cost of shipping. The quantity of Cascade hops is limited and is available on a first come, first served basis. RahrBSG and Crisp Malt partnered with Brewgooder to encourage craft brewers in the US to participate in the Global Gathering, a fundraiser to provide clean water for people in developing countries.

 
The Boston Chapter of the Pink Boots Society and RahrBSG have partnered on a scholarship to send a member to Humulus U 2019, a one-day hop symposium for professional brewers in Yakima, WA.

 
Centuries ago, women brewsters would don their long, pointed hats, hang their broomsticks above their door to signal business was open, and get to work brewing in their large cauldrons. The visual should conjure up the image of a classic witch, complete with a cat to case away mice and vermin from the brewing ingredients. While modern brewsters have ditched the broomsticks and cauldrons, the term “witch” carries on to become a positive affirmation with the organization Witch Hunt in Minneapolis.

 
Over the past couple weeks, members of the RahrBSG team have been out and about across the US and Canada collaborating with Pink Boots Society and a number of great breweries to celebrate the contributions of women to our industry.
