Winning with Weyermann® Specialty Malts
Brewers around the world have been bringing Weyermann® Specialty Malts into their brewhouses for over 140 years. From Caramel malts to the Barke® line and barley varieties all across the Lovibond scale, Weyermann’s fresh, high-quality ingredients are sought after and celebrated for their excellent performance and flavor profiles.
Weyermann® likes to celebrate, too. In fact, whenever a brewer wins big at GABF with a beer featuring Weyermann® malt, they’re awarded a pair of bright red overalls just like those worn by employees at the Weyermann® malting facility in Bamberg. You can’t buy them or find them anywhere else; owning a pair has become a mark of achievement in the industry.
We caught up with a few GABF medal winners to ask how they feel about joining the Weyermann® tradition.

Q: How does it feel to be recognized by Weyermann® and to receive the coveted red overalls?
A: Working with Kevin and Britt Templin has been an absolute dream. I’m learning lager brewing from the best and we are using the best possible ingredients. Weyermann® malts have stood out to me since the beginning of my brewing career and for our FAM to be given another pair of red overalls is so so rad!
Q: How does it feel to win a medal at GABF amongst your industry peers?
A: Putting Utah craft beer on the map is always a pleasure, but to be on the same winner board as some of these other well-established breweries is bonkers. TF has been making great lager beer for years now and we strive to never settle in our search for perfecting the art. Once the whole team has a pair of red overalls, then we’ll really celebrate.

Q: How does it feel to be recognized by Weyermann® and to receive the coveted red overalls?
A: If you know, you know! In the brewing industry, having a pair of the red overalls is a big deal. I am so pumped to be able to finally get a pair this year.
Q: How does it feel to win a medal at GABF amongst your industry peers?
A: It’s a great feeling to be up there with some of the best breweries in the country. There are many challenges to being a small, rural brewpub, especially when entering beer competitions. We don’t have a lot of resources when it comes to quality control and logistics that many larger breweries from larger markets enjoy. So, it is especially an honor and a testament to our processes to win not only one but two medals.

Our brewing team was very hyped to receive the recognition from Weyermann® and I think we all tried them on immediately. As you can tell by the photo, we were excited.
